Cuban comfort food is coming. Sophie's Cuban will offer up dishes like ropa vieja, fried plantains and oxtail stew when it opens its doors at 1134 19th St. NW on Oct. 3.

The New York-based chain isn't stopping there. The restaurant is planning to open four locations in the greater D.C. area. A spokeswoman wouldn't say exactly where, though they'll have to be in areas with busy lunch populations, as that's what the chain targets. The restaurant's set-up is cafeteria style, and it offers takeout and delivery as well.
