The multi-level space at 2446 18th St. NW is starting to look a lot less like The Reef. Contractors are hard at work constructing all the details for Roofers Union, aiming to open in early February. The restaurant from owner Roger Marmet and chef Marjorie-Meek Bradley will be a casual sibling to their Ripple.
An early tour of the space, still under construction, shows reclaimed materials, unique light fixtures (courtesy of Marmet's wife, Betsy, who also designed them for Ripple) and graffiti on the walls. Basically every defining detail from The Reef, from the blue themes to the aquarium, is being removed or redone. What remains: a prime rooftop view of Adams Morgan (the roof will not open immediately but they will install heaters and have it open before springtime).
