THE CRITICS— Todd Kliman is not a fan of the trend of restaurants offering "desserts for two" (and charging more for them). He spies the offense at places like DBGB and Gypsy Soul. [Washingtonian]

A MOVEABLE TWEET— Don't keep a soccer player from his Pho. Retiring U.S. national team and LA Galaxy player Landon Donovan says on Twitter during a Q&A session that Nam Viet in Arlington is one of his favorite places for a meal on the road. [Twitter]

DEVELOPMENTS— The city government recently accepted development bids for a multi-lot spot at Florida Avenue and Q Streets NW. One of the proposals, from Evergreen Urban, could include a restaurant from entrepreneur Paul Ruppert (as well as several other uses, including a theater). [UT]
