Cava Grill's newest location opens today in Chinatown at 707 H St. NW. The sleek two-story Chinatown location features an upstairs dining room, and the plan is to eventually outfit the restaurant with a foosball table. For now, one of the unique features to the new Cava Grill outpost is a wood-burning oven where pitas are baked in-house. This is the first oven of its type at a Cava Grill.
Per opening day tradition, the restaurant gave away free lunches from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. When Eater DC stopped by at 12:15 p.m., the line stretched past Starbucks and around the block, almost to RFD. The first person got in line around 10:15 a.m., well before the restaurant opened at 11 a.m. Status: Certified open; regular hours start tomorrow. 707 H St. NW; website.
