Mark Kuller, the restaurateur behind such D.C. destinations as Proof, Doi Moi and Estadio has died. He was 61.
Kuller died of pancreatic cancer, according to an obituary in The Washington Post.
All three of his D.C. projects were collaborations with chef Haidar Karoum and mixologist Adam Bernbach. The restaurants received many accolades over the years from D.C.'s food critics (Proof and Estadio have been fixtures on the Eater 38 for some time now).
Kuller was a fixture at area restaurants known for his love of good wine and food. Washingtonian profiled him last year, highlighting his colorful background (his father was a bookie) and his original career as a tax attorney.
Eater has reached out to Kuller's spokeswoman for any official statement.
