Yes, There's a Fire Pole: Inside Washington Firehouse

The historic building reopens this month as a restaurant.

Brick, ladders, a fire pole, televisions, exposed beams, multiple levels and tons of windows. Is it the fire department building? Close. Washington Firehouse, a new Bloomingdale restaurant housed within a historic building, soft-opens this week.

The restaurant will serve such dishes as mussels, steaks and lasagna. Chef Peter Prime is overseeing the menu (here's the opening one). The restaurant will double as an events space as well. Status: Soft-opening done, grand opening Friday. 1626 N. Capitol St. NW; website.
