SILVER SPRING— Several people on Twitter noticed today that Urban Butcher has been closed for repairs. According to the company's website, it's been closed since October 7, apparently due to fire damage. Eater has reached out to the restaurant to find out when it might reopen, but no response yet. EXPANSION WIRE— Mario Batali has expressed interest in opening something in D.C. several times in the past few years (including the ever-present Eataly rumors, most recently for Capital Crossing). Washingtonian covers a luncheon with the chef, where he says he's looking for the right real estate partner in order to expand here. [Washingtonian]

CLARENDON— As expected, Tallula and EatBar closed over the weekend in Arlington. [EaterWire]

FOGGY BOTTOM— Local cheese specialist Sophie Slesinger (most recently of GCDC is IN at Blue Duck Tavern). She'll be in charge of creating special cheese plates for the restaurant in the Park Hyatt. [EaterWire]
