The trendy term "third space" — a community gathering place besides work and home — is the idea behind a new restaurant/bar concept headed to Crystal City from the team behind Carpool, Penn Social, Rocket Bar, Buffalo Billiards and Continental Pool Lounge. Their newest venture, Highline, is set to open in late 2014 and will be located in the space formerly occupied by Bailey’s at 2010 Crystal Drive. The 7,300-square-foot venue will be open throughout the day, serving coffee, lunch and dinner. It will even be equipped for working lunches, with amenities like whiteboards and Post-its to help with brainstorming. Then by late afternoon, Highline will start serving local craft beers and cocktails to the happy hour crowd.
In a press release, Bedrock Management Company partner and co-owner of Highline Geoffrey Dawson said: "The number one thing people want in their community is a place beyond work and home—what we call the ‘3rd Space.’ We want Highline to be a place where people can literally and figuratively get outside of their box either to hang with friends, collaborate with colleagues or meet new people."
