Georgetown luxury hotel Fairmont Washington, D.C. has a new executive pastry chef in D’Oyen Christie. With over 21 years of culinary experience, Christie has worked as executive pastry chef in Fairmont properties around the world. He comes to the Fairmont Washington, D.C. from the Fairmont Nanjing in China, and before that, he served as executive pastry chef for the Fairmont Empress in British Columbia from 2002 until 2013.

Christie earned a Patisserie Certificate and Basic & Advanced Baking Certificate from George Brown College in Toronto, Ontario, as well as a certification in Chocolate Desserts from École de Valrhona in Rhône, France. He also served as a guest instructor at the Vancouver Island University and at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. The expert in elaborate chocolate desserts will likely lend that skill to his work at the Fairmont.
