1) Gaithersburg: Fast-casual local Mediterranean chain Cava Grill's newest outpost opens today in the Kentlands neighborhood. The Kentlands location features an expanded open-kitchen layout, local beer and wine on tap, as well as rotating seasonal soups, juices, and teas made in-house daily.
And per Cava Grill Community Day tradition, lunch and dinner are free today at the new location, with an encouraged donation to partner charities. Cava Grill will serve lunch gratis today till 2 p.m. and then dinner gratis from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Starting Friday, the restaurant will open with their usual hours of 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Status: Certified open. 213 Kentlands Blvd. Gaithersburg; website.
2) Farragut: Build-your-own pizza spot DC Pizza celebrates its grand opening today by giving out one free four-topping pizza and a soft drink to customers while supplies last. To get a free pizza, customers must be in line 15 mins before shift closes. Free pizza is going down from now until 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. — and check out the massive line outside the restaurant below. The not-so-Google-friendly fast-casual restaurant promises gourmet personal-sized pizzas made-to-order in less than three minutes. Status: Certified open. 1103 19th St. NW; website.
