Where to Fête Beaujolais Nouveau This Week

Celebrate this young French wine the right way — by drinking it.

Central Michel Richard
Thirsty Thursday, indeed. Beaujolais Nouveau Day, a celebration of the youthful wine made from French Gamay grapes, is this Thursday, November 20. It's a joyous day for oenophiles and wine novices alike — the point is simply to drink and enjoy. Here's a list of who's celebrating the holiday of wine this year. Plan early to hit up more than one:

Central Michel Richard
Central Michel Richard is tacking on a 'Burgundy Blowout' to their Beaujolais Nouveau celebration — in addition to the young wines, there will also be discounted bottles from nearby Burgundy. Eats include $14 crispy pork belly with braised green lentils and $34 Filet Mignon with Brussels sprouts. Lasts from the 20th to Saturday the 23rd.

Slate Wine Bar + Bistro
Slate Wine Bar + Bistro will hold a tasting of four Beaujolais on the 20th, from 5-8. Sample the new vintage as well as three other Beaujolais selections for $15.

French Embassy
Alliance Française DC is celebrating on November 21, with "Beaujolais & Beyond 2014: An International Wine and Food Celebration" at La Maison Française. A $65 ticket gains access to food from local restaurants and "free-flowing" Beaujolais Nouveau, plus a DJ, tasting contests and a raffle for a trip to Paris.

Malmaison
Georgetown's Malmaison is teaming up with Art Soiree to celebrate Beaujolais Nouveau with French music, video projections and food. A $30 ticket includes access to an open Beaujolais Nouveau bar; vintage dress is encouraged.

Bistrot du Coin
The Dupont Circle mainstay holds its annual Beaujolais Nouveau celebration at midnight on Wednesday, as always.

Le Grenier
The wine is "on the house" for Beaujolais Nouveau Day at this H St. NE restaurant.  The celebration starts at 5pm on Thursday.

Mintwood Place
Mintwood Place is offering $10 glasses and $40 bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau on the 20th.

Mon Ami Gabi
Bethesda's Mon Ami Gabi is having a week-long celebration from Nov. 20 until the 26th with a wine-inspired special menu. Items include sautéed sea trout with a Beaujolais and bacon sauce and a garlic and white bean soup made with Beaujolais-style cream.
