DUPONT CIRCLE—Second State, the Pennsylvania-themed restaurant that opened last month, is now serving brunch. Each Sunday, from 10am to 4pm, Second State is slinging dishes like scotched egg (boiled egg covered in breakfast sausage, then breaded and fried) and blue crab benedict. [Eaterwire]
TURKEY DAY—Going Out Guide has jumped the gun on Thanksgiving and rounded up seven local places to eat themed grub before the holiday. Selections include Capriotti's "The Bobbie" (a turkey/cranberry sauce/stuffing sandwich and Joe Biden fave) and turkey-filled pop-tarts from Ted's Bulletin. Hmm. [WaPo]
GLOVER PARK—Sprig and Sprout, whose XL pho challenge has yet to be conquered, is offering a new reward for anyone who can take on their enormous bowl of noodles and broth. S&S has teamed with food deliverer TryCaviar to reward the first challenge winner with $100 worth of credits to the site. Though the challenge — which contains two pounds each of noodles, flank and lean brisket, 3.5 quarts of broth and one pound of fixin's (sprouts, onions, cilantro) — has yet to be won, perhaps the promise of even more eats will help bring out D.C.'s dormant competitive eaters.
