Most restaurants and hotels will be celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah next month. The Renaissance Dupont Circle will take the Seinfeldian route instead.
Throughout December, the hotel will mark Festivus with a special menu and other touches from the fake holiday. That means a prix-fixe family style meal with such dishes as jambalaya, meatloaf, candy bar cupcakes and eclairs, as well as nightly specials in the lounge like mini reubens and lobster bisque shooters. A percentage of sales will go to charity.
Meanwhile, the hotel's decorations will include a Festivus pole in the lobby (where guests can pick an envelope and donate to charity) and a "High Striker" carnival game that will serve as the event's "Feats of Strength." No airing of grievances, though — instead, guests will be encouraged to write on a wall in the lobby saying how they'd make the world a better place. Frank Costanza would never approve.
