D.C. Will No Longer Lack Laotian Food When Thip Khao Opens

The owners of Bangkok Golden are testing the waters for their new place this week.

D.C. gets a Laotian restaurant with the opening of Thip Khao, which is filling the former Thaitanic 2 space at 3462 14th St. NW.

Chef Seng Luangrath, who runs Bangkok Golden in Falls Church as well, is opening the restaurant this week by invitation only. It will open sometime in the following weeks to the public after it gets through the soft opening phase. Design-wise, the restaurant features Asian artwork on the walls, industrial design touches, orange seating and little nooks with pottery and equipment peeking out.

Thip Khao will serve dishes like crispy rice salad, watercress salad, laab gai and Asian-influenced cocktails.
