Mi Cocina Has Closed in Chevy Chase (Updated)

A poster on Don Rockwell says the Mi Cocina location in Chevy Chase has closed, with signage on the door saying the closure is effective immediately. Eater attempted to call the restaurant today, but the phone rings without an answer or recorded message. The Texas chain's only D.C. area location opened in May 2013.

Update: A spokeswoman for the chain confirmed the closure and provided this statement from Robert Vieros, CEO of M Crowd Restaurant Group.

"First I would like to thank all of our guests who have supported us over the past year and a half. The decision to close this Restaurant in Chevy Chase, MD was not easy nor hastily made. We have continually worked hard to grow sales in many different ways but have been unsuccessful in doing so. I would like to thank Max Sagastizago our Restaurant Director for the tremendous job he has done leading our team and being a Champion in the community."

The company still believes DC is a great market for the chain, and they're actively looking for new spaces, the spokeswoman said.
