Food writer Nevin Martell sent a tweet yesterday, writing: "Here's a bummer for wild game fans. Chef Aaron McCloud is leaving @cedardc at the end of the month." Eater checked in with Cedar's McCloud, who confirmed that he is moving on.
"I’ll be leaving Cedar at the end of this month," McCloud said. The chef has another Washington project that he says he can't reveal quite yet. According to McCloud, he'll be overseeing some different things in the D.C. area, so stay tuned.
Cedar opened in 2009. When McCloud came on board, he gave the menu more of a focus on game dishes like venison and buffalo.
