Someone out there is either a very charitable human being or really, really doesn't want to wait for a table at no-reservations hotspot Rose's Luxury. Or both.
The Barracks Row restaurant added some charity listings to eBay this past week, auctioning off autographed, gold-trimmed china with 100% of the proceeds benefiting the World Food Program USA.
And one platter included a deal: a comped dinner for two at Rose's, with reservations. The eBay listing read: "Dinner for 2 at Rose's Luxury in Washington, DC!!! That's right.... you can have an otherwise nonexistent reservation at Rose's PLUS all your food (including gratuity) is on the house. All you cover are any boozy treats."
Bidding started at 99 cents and ended on Sunday at $1,075 — 30 bids later. There's a similar auction up right now, currently at $255 with three days to go.
If that's too spendy, there's still time to bid on a plate or two signed by the Rose's Luxury team. Plenty are still available for 99 cents, sans reservations or meals, although some pieces of china are nicely packaged with Rose's gift certificates.
