January Means Whiskey: One Eight Distilling to Open Jan. 10

The distillery is bound for Northeast D.C.

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

One Eight Distilling will be the second distillery to open in D.C. since prohibition when it debuts Jan. 10.

The 7,500 square foot space is located at 1135 Okie Street NE. On the first day of business, they'll offer tours, samples and sales of their first products.

First up for the distillery: District Made Vodka (a rye-based variety) and Rock Creek White Whiskey (which is unaged). They'll later release Ivy City Gin. They're also hosting a preview event on Jan. 8 in conjunction with Union Kitchen, which will make cocktails from the spirit.
