National Park Service Donates Hundreds of Pounds of Deer Meat to DC Central Kitchen

1,700 to be exact.

DC Central Kitchen has chili and bolognese in its future — all made with venison. The National Park Service, as part of an objective to eradicate 55 deer from Rock Creek Park, has just donated 1,700 pounds of deer meat to the organization, reports DCist. It's part of an effort to decrease the number of deer in the park — ideally, there'd be about 15-20 deer per square mile, in fall 2014 that number was 40. [DCist]
