The Reef? Never heard of it. Ok, that's a stretch, but fans of the now-shuttered Adams Morgan bar won't recognize the place when they see its transformation. It's now the classy, dramatic-looking Roofers Union, the multi-floor restaurant from the team behind Ripple.

Floor-to-ceiling windows, eclectic lighting fixtures, an eventual huge roof deck and thematic knick-knacks (like tools and blue collar hanging uniforms) are among the design details within the space, designed by Betsy Marmet. The menu has a vibe of elevated junk food, with pretzel roll sandwiches, homemade corn dogs, Asian-influenced fried chicken sandwiches and more.
