Cleveland Park restaurant Pulpo hinted at major changes to come when it lost its chef last month, including a potential pop-up event. Now, official plans for that pop-up are in place before the ownership rebrands the restaurant in the spring.

Pulpo will soon be the temporary home of Hula Girl Bar & Grill. Mikala Brennan, who runs the Hula Girl food truck, will take over the restaurant starting on Valentine's Day, through mid-March. Brennan specializes in Hawaiian cuisine, and her menu at the pop-up will include dishes like a Poke of the Day, Loco Moco, Waialua Root Beer sticky ribs and more. There will be Hawaiian cocktails, beers and sugarcane sodas to match.

The restaurant has already been remade with a temporary new look, including Hawaiian photos, longboards and other thematic decor. After the pop-up runs its course, partners Dave Hansen and Dino Tapper will reveal the restaurant's next phase, and the Hula Girl food truck will return to the streets.
