Rose's Luxury, Tiffany MacIsaac Among This Year's James Beard Awards Semifinalists

The James Beard Foundation presented its annual list of semi-finalists this year, via livestream, and D.C. was not ignored. Several chefs and restaurants were given nods, though it's important to remember that this is the "long list" of nominees: the finalists will be revealed March 18, and the winners come in May.

Eater National has the full list of semi-finalists; here's the local rundown. Rose's Luxury is a semi-finalist for Best New Restaurant. No D.C. Chefs made the Outstanding Chef list, but several are up for Best Chef: Mid-Atlantic, including Cathal Armstrong (Restaurant Eve), Tony Chittum (Iron Gate), Haidar Karoum (Proof), Tarver King (The Restaurant at Patowmack Farm), Cedric Maupillier (Mintwood Place) and Vikram Sunderam (Rasika).

Other highlights: the Columbia Room and Rogue 24 are both up for Outstanding Bar Program. Tiffany MacIsaac of Neighborhood Restaurant Group is being considered for Outstanding Pastry Chef, while Marjorie Meek-Bradley is up for Rising Star Chef of the Year. Frequent semi-finalist Ashok Bajaj makes the list again for Outstanding Restaurateur, along with Le Diplomate's Stephen Starr. Jaleo and Vidalia will compete in the Outstanding Restaurant category, and Komi and Marcel's will face off in the Outstanding Service (Marcel's also got a nod for its wine program, as did CityZen).
