The Wydown coffee pop-up has a new home. The U Street brewer had to move from its original location, and ended up in the Patty Boom Boom space at 1359 U St. NW. Owner Alex McCracken tells Eater that they're brewing up Intelligentsia coffee from 7 a.m. to noon during the week and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
The stand is more of a true pop-up than the rather sophisticated original one, designed by Edit Lab at Streetsense. They only have brewed-to-order coffee (no espresso), and some bites.
The Wydown is hoping to remain in its current location nearly up until its full-service coffee shop opens. Right now, they're shooting for April for their shop in the Louis building, which will also house a restaurant called Tico and a Trader Joe's. There, the Wydown will have a full bakery, extended hours, more coffee, a roll-up garage door, patio seating and more.
