Monday's a good night to give Malmaison, the newish Georgetown restaurant, a try. It's Bring-Your-Own-Wine Night at the restaurant, and that means free corkage (which can be hard to come by in D.C.). Pair the wine with a pre-set menu and it's $49.
But chef Gerard Pangaud goes even further. The former chef of Gerard's Place also used to be a sommelier. So if customers call up the chef and tell them the wine they're bringing, he'll design a special menu for them to complement the wine. There's no additional charge, though he requires 72 hours advanced notice.
Pangaud is keeping himself busy. He's also spending some time in the kitchen of sister restaurant Napoleon, according to a rep.
