Penn Commons is Passion Food's Latest Venture

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

The Passion Food Hospitality group of restaurants will open a new place in Penn Quarter this summer.

The restaurant will be called Penn Commons, and it sounds quite similar to District Commons, the company's outpost in Foggy Bottom. The restaurant will be located at the intersection of 6th and H Streets NW (Update: a spokesperson would not confirm the exact address). Gensler will design the space, and dishes will include a brick-pressed chicken with rainbow chard, shrimp and grits and other American fare from chef Jeff Tunks.

Expect some other similarities to District Commons, such as the nightly dinner bell plates, the weekly sandwich board, and solid burgers like the restaurant's neighboring Burger, Tap and Shake. They will offer 50 beers on tap, 50 wines by the glass and 13 cocktails.
