April Opening Planned for Mazagan

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Upcoming Arlington restaurant Mazagan is on track for a mid-April opening, according to manager Reda Bouizar.

Mazagan will open at 2901 Columbia Pike. Chef Riyad Bouizar is looking to put a modern spin on traditional Moroccan food. Mazagan will have a number of grilled meats, with 15 types of kabobs available, as well as tagine dishes and plenty of mezze items to start. An early menu is already online.

The restaurant is located within a 3,200 square foot space that will include an open kitchen and a glass-enclosed hookah lounge. There will be a large bar with a big cocktail selection, and an emphasis on Moroccan and Lebanese wine. The restaurateurs were drawn to the corner space because of the neighborhood, Reda Bouizar said. "Columbia Pike has changed a lot, and we like this spot very much," he said.
