Thai street food is the menu inspiration, and mythical creatures are the design inspiration at the new Soi 38, opening next week in the West End.

The restaurant was designed by architecture firm Design Republica, and the space is supposed to evoke the night markets of Bangkok. The restaurant mixes raw materials such as exposed wood, with street artist murals and artwork. Abstract images of animals such as elephants and dragons cover the walls. The 4,000 square foot restaurant has room for 142 seats, with communal tables, a semi-open kitchen and eventually, a patio.

Soi 38 comes from restaurateurs Nat Ongsangkoon & Dia Khanthongthip, with chef Mitchai Pankham overseeing the menu. They'll be serving up Thai street foods like grilled pork neck with lime and chili sauce, duck roti and more. Beverages will include a homemade lemongrass soda, drinks from J.P. Caceres (including bottled cocktails) and more. The restaurant hopes to open Wednesday or Thursday of next week.
