Longtime Dupont Circle institution La Tomate will open its new cafe at the end of next month.

La Tomate Caffe, adjacent to the Italian restaurant, will be open from breakfast until late night, with brioche, sweets, espresso, coffee and juices. They'll also serve cheeses and light fare during the later hours, as well as prepackaged homemade products like sauces and soups. There will be cocktails, wine and beer as well. The cafe is being positioned as a quicker alternative to the bistro.

The restaurant is planning a number of opening specials for its first few days of business, including free coffee, $5 Prosecco and charcuterie, and deals on Aperol spritzers. The cafe will open May 29, with specials running through May 31.
