Tiffany MacIsaac is Leaving NRG

Huge news for the pastry world in Tom Sietsema's chat this week. Washington's dessert maven, Tiffany MacIsaac is leaving Neighborhood Restaurant Group. She tells Sietsema she likely will branch out and do something on her own. "I'm 33, not sure what I want to do next, but I need to take a moment to reassess," MacIsaac told Sietsema.

MacIsaac spent five years with the restaurant group, and was the mastermind behind the company's beloved cupcakes at Buzz Bakery and the doughnuts at GBD, among other things. Her husband, Kyle Bailey, is a chef with Birch & Barley and Bluejacket. Sietsema reports he plans to stay with the company.

MacIsaac was a James Beard semi-finalist this year, and Eater's 2013 Pastry Chef of the Year.

Update: A spokeswoman for NRG says MacIsaac will leave the organization next month.

NRG released a statement about the departure this afternoon. "Tiffany MacIsaac is an exceptional talent and a great friend and I and the rest of the team are grateful for all of her contributions over the years," says Michael Babin, Principle of Neighborhood Restaurant Group. "We wish her nothing but the best and I'm sure we will continue to collaborate in some way, shape, or form in the future."

"The last 4.5 years at Neighborhood Restaurant Group have been some of the best of my career. I am so grateful Michael brought me to DC and allowed me to be a part of so many wonderful projects and I hope I will continue to work with NRG in some capacity," said MacIsaac in the statement.
