It can be hard to find something good to eat at the airport, especially if you don't have a lot of time to search around. But, there are a few gems out there if you know where to go. In honor of the beginning of holiday travel season, we've updated our guide to eating and drinking at Baltimore Washington International Airport with info about all of the restaurants in each terminal, and recommendations for where to go if you have some time to kill, or if you just need a quick bite on the way to the gate.
Editor's Note: A spokesman did not respond to Eater's request for concession updates this week, so information is based on the airport's online guide.
BWI's Five Standouts
1) Obrycki's Restaurant & Bar: This restaurant has its origins in Baltimore's Fells Point neighborhood and has long been regarded as one of the top places in the city for steamed crabs. The Fells Point restaurant closed in November 2011, sadly, so its airport locations are all Obrycki's has left. Go for all things crab — from crab cakes to soft crab and crab soup, plus other bar-friendly dishes; the restaurant has received major accolades in recent months from such publications as The Daily Meal and CNN Travel. (Concourse B).
2) Vino Volo Wine Bar: Not bad at all for an airport wine bar, Vino Volo has a small menu of small bites, sandwiches, and charcuterie. Think things like smoked salmon rolls, braised pork tacos, a tuscan chicken sandwich and more. (Concourse A).
33) Sky Azure: Sky Azur is a new addition to BWI, serving up craft cocktails, unique beers and small plates. The restaurant got a solid review in the Baltimore Sunsimple, fresh dishes like watermelon salad and guacamole. for its (Main Terminal, Concourse B/C)
4) Silver Diner: The Rockville-born diner has recently revamped its food offerings so they emphasize local produce and healthier fare. The BWI operation recently expanded and remodeled as well, and is one of the largest airport restaurants in the U.S. (Concourse A/B)
5) BGR: The Burger Joint: This homegrown burger joint has expanded not only within the D.C. area, but across the country. Mark Bucher's concept has the basics—burgers, fries, etc.—but serves up burgers with interesting flavor combinations, as well as a mean veggie burger. (Concourse B).
