Dino returns to D.C. with the debut of Dino's Grotto, opening May 15 in Shaw. The restaurant is a riff on Dean Gold's original Cleveland Park restaurant, housed in a new space. Similarities to the original's decor are present in the color scheme and overall style. The restaurant features exposed brick, plenty of wooden furniture, a big bar and classic artwork.
There's room for 76 diners, spread over two floors. Expect menu items including trotter tots, panini, cioppino, steaks, pastas and more. Dino's burger will return to the menu, alongside fried artichokes, farro with seasonal vegetables and other options. Gold's focus on local producers and farmers remains.
On the drinks side of things, there will be 20 Italian wines by the glass, a flight of orange wines, and an extensive list with a focus on small producers. Beverage Director Fabian Malone and cocktail expert John Dynan will oversee the drinks, with homemade spirits and new cocktails.
