Wilson Tavern Will Close Next Week

It's time to say goodbye to Wilson Tavern. The Arlington bar's last night of business will be next Tuesday.

The bar is being torn down for redevelopment. The Schupp Companies are planning to put a Hyatt Place hotel on the property. The owners of the bar, who also own The Mighty Pint, say there no current plans to reopen Wilson Tavern elsewhere. Most of the staff, as well as the bar's plaques for regulars, are moving over to The Mighty Pint, though.

Wilson Tavern hosted Arlington regulars for beers and sporting events, including an epic USA versus Russia viewing party during the Olympics. It was a big Hokie bar, welcoming Virginia Tech fans, and threw theme parties ranging from Fireball parties to a Condoms & Candy Necklaces Valentine's Day party.

A closing party for the bar will kick off May 13 at 4 p.m.
