North Dakota food critic Marilyn Hagerty, whose missive about The Olive Garden went viral in 2012, has filed a pseudo-review of Founding Farmers. The critic asked her granddaughter, who is interning for a Senator this summer, to send a dispatch about the restaurant, due to its affiliation with the North Dakota Farmers Union.
She and a friend enjoyed such dishes as the cornbread and a turkey burger, and while they lament that the sweet tea doesn't come with free refills, they end up having terrific service. Their server "was the kind of waitress that makes you feel she actually is having a good time while doing her job," says granddaughter Carrie Sandstrom.
Her dining companion, though, was a bit mystified by one of the restaurant's signature dishes. For him, "the meal was tasty, although he did not understand the combination of chicken and waffles."
