Goodies Truck to Open Soda Fountain Saturday

The National Harbor development will help one established food truck make the transition to a brick-and-mortar location. The team behind the Goodies treats truck will open Goodies Frozen Custard and Soda this weekend, in front of where Ketchup used to be.

"We're excited and very busy, but part of the excitement is being busier," said truck founder Brandon Byrd. They're opening just in time for the first day of summer.

The new kiosk is in the style of a vintage soda bar, serving up rootbeer floats spiked with custard. There will be six sodas (as well as some seasonal flavors like blueberry), sundaes, shakes, homemade waffle cones and more. They've got a vintage gas pump decorating the kiosk and a design in the Goodies truck color scheme.

The Goodies truck will remain on the streets, at least for now. They're hoping to keep the soda stand open through December, though they may close during the coldest months of winter and reopen in March.
