The Wydown is back in business — for good this time. The coffee shop and bakery, which ran two different pop-ups over on U Street, now has a permanent location at 1924 14th St. NW. The space, designed by EditLab at StreetSense, has a pull-up garage door, among other rustic elements. It shares a building with the new Tico restaurant from Michael Schlow.
The coffee bar and bakery is serving up such items as corn muffins and scones. Co-owners Chad and Alex McCracken have plenty of gadgets to help them delivery quality coffee, such as programmable machines, a repurposed boiler from the 70s and other toys, and homemade pour-over devices.
The Wydown plans to operate Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekends. Status: Certified open. 1924 14th St. NW; website.
