People who think "ramen" and "summer" aren't exactly compatible, think again. Daikaya's got something that will even appeal to those who can't stomach hot soup during the warmer months: cold ramen.
The restaurant is adding two cold noodle dishes to the menu of the downstairs ramen shop in late June. The Hiyashi Ramen (commonly served during the summer in Japan) has chilled noodles, citrus soy vinaigrette, cucumber, bamboo, leeks, bean sprouts, sesame oil, mushrooms, cabbage, egg, roast pork, and summer vegetables like corn and cherry tomatoes. For those looking for something with a bit more of a kick, there's the Hiyashi Spicy Sesame Ramen, the restaurant's own creation, which has similar ingredients, but ups the heat factor and is dressed with a spicy sesame vinaigrette.
