Cakes Will Be the Focus of Buttercream Bakeshop

Not that she doesn't love doughnuts. But over the past few years, pastry chef Tiffany MacIsaac has become particularly passionate about cakes. So it makes sense that celebration and wedding cakes will be a big focus of Buttercream Bakeshop, the pastry company she's debuting on her own.

"For now, I'm starting small," MacIsaac said via email about the project, which launched a Facebook page earlier this month. " I'll be baking out of both my home and rented kitchen space in DC. I dream of one day having a shop of my own but it'll take a lot to make that happen so for now I'll start small and dream big!"

Buttercream Bakeshop will also offer cookies, macarons and other treats from the chef. MacIsaac, a veteran of Neighborhood Restaurant Group, says she wants to eventually offer some throwback nostalgic dishes like oatmeal cream pies and homemade mallowmars, too.

Those who want to order pastries from MacIsaac will be able to order them online (they're building the infrastructure to do so currently). Until then, the menu is available on Facebook and customers can place direct orders via email at buttercreambakeshop.orders@gmail.com.
