There isn't much information out there beyond a name and a theme. But chef Seng Luangrath, the chef behind beloved Lao restaurant Bangkok Golden, appears to be opening a new restaurant in D.C.
The chef wrote a post on her blog announcing the new restaurant, which will be called Thip Khao. A specific location wasn't announced.
Today I am so excited to announce that another dream and vision of mine has become a reality. Thank you to my friends, family and staff for all your support in this journey. I am proud to say that Thip Khao, a Laotian restaurant will be coming to the nation's capital of DC this fall.
Bangkok Golden in Falls Church is one of the few Laotian restaurants in the D.C. area. Eater has reached out to the chef for any additional details.
Update: A spokesperson for Thip Khao shared the news that Jack Caminos will be handling the bar menu for the restaurant. He'll be desigining specialty cocktails and spend some nights behind the bar. The drinks menu will focus on tropical cocktails, along with Lao takes on classics like the Sazerac. Tehy'll also have homemade spiked tropical sodas. The restaurant is not revealing the location at this time.
