Cakepops Are Coming to Woodley Park

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

D.C. will see its first cakepop bakery open near the National Zoo later this year.

Baked by Yael has signed a lease for 3000 Connecticut Ave. NW for her "cakepoppery." The bakery plans to also serve bagels and other items like black and white cookies and rugelach in addition to the signature cake-pops.

Founder Yael Krigman, who ran a Kickstarter campaign to raise money for her business, has been looking for a retail space for two years. She's been selling the cakepops online for birthday parties, baby showers and other occasions in the meantime. Update: A November opening is planned.
