Much of the discussion in Tom Sietsema's chat today revolved around watching calories while still dining at local restaurants. The critic offered his own strategies. "When I think I need to watch it, I decline any bread basket, stick to a single alcoholic drink, limit myself to two bites of dessert and send leftovers home with my dining companions. I think it helps that I share plates with the people I dine with, so I'm conscious of never finishing anything on my plate." [WaPo]
