Pinea is Barry Koslow's Project at the W

Missy Frederick is the Cities Director for Eater.

Pinea is the restaurant that will replace the now-shuttered J&G Steakhouse at the W hotel.

Helmed by DGS Delicatessen alumnus Barry Koslow, the restaurant will open in September. The name comes from the pine trees of Southern Europe (which is where pine nuts come from). The restaurant's menu will focus on the cuisines of Spain, Italy and France.

Expect dishes featuring local vegetables, flavored olive oils and seasonal meat and seafood. There will also be homemade spice blends and pastas, and some shareable dishes. Sample dishes include Serrano ham wrapped figs with bleu cheese, as well as boquerones with caramelized onions and black olives. Wines will lean toward Southern Europe, and there will be beers and cocktails as well.
