Shake Shack opens its Tysons Corner location today, its fifth in the D.C. area and the first in Virginia.
The restaurant opens at 11 a.m. in The Plaza at Tysons Corner Center. The restaurant will serve the usual burgers, hot dogs, fries and concretes. They'll have a special concrete called the Tysons Treat with vanilla custard, banana, chocolate sprinkles and chocolate graham crackers from local bakery Pollystyle, as well as some of the DC-specific flavors from other locations. The location was made with recycled materials and energy-efficient equipment; it will also have free Wi-Fi.
Though the restaurant was designed to accommodate Shake Shack's new fresh-cut fries, CEO Randy Garutti announced Friday that the restaurant will bring back its classic crinkle-cut fries by November. This time, they'll be free of artificial ingredients; the switch back should delight many Eater readers, who preferred crinkle. Update: Eater contributor Jody Fellows spotted crinkle fries at the Tysons location at opening day. Status: Opening today. 1961 Chain Bridge Road, Tysons Corner, Va.; website.
