There are only a few days left to visit Malaysia Kopitiam. A user on Don Rockwell reports and Eater confirms that the restaurant is closing this week.
Owner Leslie Phoon tells Eater via email that the last day will be Friday. "Our lease is up and the landlord has got a new tenant," Phoon wrote. There are no immediate plans to open elsewhere.
Malaysia Kopitiam has been a longtime institution at 1827 M St. NW. One of the few Malaysian food destinations in the area, it was known for such dishes as roti canai and "hawker specials" like curry laksa. Information on the new tenant was not immediately available.
