Second Union Kitchen Will Have a Blind Dog Cafe

When the second facility of Union Kitchen opens at 1369 New York Ave. NE by the end of the year, it will feature a second location of Blind Dog Cafe as well.

It makes sense, really. Union Kitchen co-founders Jonas Singer and Cullen Gilchrist also run Blind Dog, a daytime pop-up which operates out of Darnell's bar near the 9:30 Club. "I see it as a hangout for all of the producers," said Gilchrist.

The second Union Kitchen space will triple the capacity for the organization, which helps start-up food businesses get off the ground. They've signed a 20 year lease for the new building. Union Kitchen counts such restaurants as Takorean, RareSweets and District Doughnuts among its success stories, and has about 50 producers operating out of their existing facility currently.
