After about a year of business, it's time for chef number three at Merrifield's Ovvio. The Italian restaurant's Giovanni Carlo has left his position.
He's been replaced by chef Richard Hetzler, according to manager Georgia Applegate. Hetzler is best known to D.C. audiences for his work at Mitsitam, the critically-acclaimed cafe within the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian. Eater has reached out to the museum to find out whether Hetzler will still play any role in their menu development.
Hetzler will debut a new fall menu at Ovvio in September, according to Applegate.
