Grilled Cheese Invasion: NY's Melt Shop is D.C. Bound

D.C., prepare for another grilled cheese shop. New York's Melt Shop is planning to open a D.C. location, at 1901 L St. NW.

The company tells Eater the menu will be the same as their new Fulton Street location, with grilled cheese melts, tater tots, tomato soup and creative shakes. There are four Melt Shops open.

The owners wanted to take the brand south, and have family in D.C., so that's how they settled on Washington. An early November opening is being targeted.

Melt will join such other grilled cheese destinations in D.C. as Spacebar in Falls Church and GCDC downtown.
