What's new with food trucks this week.

Trouble on the Mall! Snack 'n' souvenir carts on the Mall may soon be seeing stiff competition from DC's plentiful artisanal food trucks — and Mall veterans are not too happy about it. Others, however, see this as a good, long-overdue change. [WaPo]

Is your perfect Saturday being surrounded by every cuisine ever? Great, you're in luck. Trucktoberfest is tomorrow, Sept. 27, noon - 7pm at the Wheaton Metro. Expect live tunes and a makeshift beer garden, too. [Food Truck Fiesta]

A survey of those trading (or complimenting) the food truck wheels for brick and mortar space — including the folks behind TaKorean, Curbside Cupcakes, Goodies Frozen Custard and Treats. [WaPo]

Updated 4:15pm: Washington City Paper reports that Dirty South Deli, a new food truck helmed by Matchbox Food Group executive chef Jacob Hunter and former Ted's Bulletin (Barracks Row location) manager Will Fung. The focus will be creative-ingredient sandwiches — think roasted cauliflower, stuffing made from potato chips — named after quirky Southern-idolized entities like Nick Cage and Birdman. [WCP]
