ATLAS DISTRICT— Driftwood Kitchen: coming soon, reports POPville. It's taking over the former space of TruOrleans with its flavor profile: "a Modern American restaurant with Middle Eastern profiles." This means bacon flavored with zatar. There will be two bars — upstairs is for beer and whiskey, downstairs is for cocktails made with house-made sodas. [PoPville]
MIKE ISABELLA UPDATE— One of DC's favorite adopted sons, Mike Isabella, has his eyes on Wolfgang Puck's throne, and with all of Isabella's latest openings — in Richmond and in the Pensacola, Florida airport — he just might be able to make his dreams come true. Washingtonian checks in with the restaurateur and talks empires, hushpuppies. [Washingtonian]
BETHESDA— Taste of Bethesda returns to Woodmont Triangle in October for its 25th year. Happening on October 11 (from 11 a.m. to 4.p.m), ToB brings together more than 50 area restaurants — 4935 Bar & Kitchen, Jaleo, Tyber Bierhaus and more — and plenty of live music spread amongst five stages. Admission is free, but you'll have to buy tickets in order to exchange them for food "tastings." [EaterWire]
