Mario Batali. Anthony Bourdain. Tom Colicchio. Spike Mendelsohn. Carla Hall. Andrew Zimmern.
They're big names with something in common — they're all part of The Chef Network, José Andrés' new initiative bringing together more than 50 chefs across the country to work with his charity, World Central Kitchen. Andrés is calling the six marquee chefs his "front line." Several other D.C. chefs, like Erik Bruner-Yang and Victor Albisu, are also on board.
Their role will be to work on initiatives that fight hunger and poverty, visiting programs in such countries as Haiti and Latin America. Chefs will take on such roles as designing culinary curriculums, building "smart kitchens" and training others on food safety and sanitation.
