The new Downtown Crown development in Gaithersburg sees two new restaurants open today. Eventually, the development will house such restaurants as Ruth's Chris Steak House, Paladar Latin Kitchen + Rum Bar, &pizza and more.
1) Gaithersburg: Coastal Flats is the first Maryland restaurant from the Great American Restaurants group, largely known for Virginia projects like Sweetwater Tavern and Artie's. This is the third location of the chain, which serves up casual seafood, beer, salads and more. The design has a 1950s Florida vibe. Status: Opening today at 4 p.m. 135 Crown Park Ave.; website.
2) Gaithersburg: Venti Tre opens its first D.C. area location as well (there's one in Baltimore). It's a fast-casual Italian concept where visitors can customize Italian flatbread wraps with fillings like meatballs and rosemary garlic steak. Status: Opening today at 11 a.m. 128 Ellington Blvd.; website.
